With the soaring cost of gasoline, many people are seeking more economical ways of getting around. Increasingly, people are car-pooling or taking the bus. Many city dwellers rely solely on mass transit and taxis to get around; they rent cars whenever they need to take longer trips. In at least 20 American cities, car-sharing clubs have sprung up. These clubs own vehicles that are available for hourly rentals to club members. The idea is to give people who occasionally need a car access to one without the cost and inconvenience of ownership.

In today’s tough economy where the price of everything from gas to groceries is skyrocketing, we’re all looking to save a few bucks. Many consumers are attempting to save pennies here and there by choosing generics over big name brands in their supermarket aisles. From cereal and orange juice to glass cleaner and paper towels, there’s a cheaper generic version of almost every type of product out there.

Americans love to take to the water because it provides a feeling of freedom and a sense of adventure. But boating can have a dark side, too. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, there were 5,191 boating accidents reported in 2007. However, this is probably only the tip of the iceberg. The Coast Guard believes that more than 80 percent of all boating accidents go unreported.
